09/21/06 13:25:04 PDT LIVE! FROM THE OBSERVATORY Last winter we were riding our bike on a mountain road in Griffith Park, trying to get some miles in before it started raining again. There we were, covered in mud and grit from the tires and the wet, alone on the ridge between the Observatory and the Hollywood sign. The road was slick and dicey with gravel and we semi-cautiously rounded a corner. There in the mist, up with the hawks, was Mary Woronov, walking her dog. We smiled at each other. We wanted to yell "Eating Raoul!" or ask "Hey! Do you ever see Paul Bartel around?" but we didn't. ![]() (This gratuitous remembrance of an unexpected star-sighting was added here to remind ourselves about great cycling can be and how nifty it is when the element of surprise accompanies a given bike ride... that is all...) --coonce |
